Du 13 au 15 Juin 2024 se tenait le Championnat d’Europe Séniors Dames sur le Golf de KIKUOKA COUNTRY CLUB (Luxembourg).
Hélène MALVY a encore réalisé une très belle performance en se hissant à la 2ème place de ce championnat d’Europe, confirmant ainsi le très bon début de saison dans cette catégorie entamé en mai 2024 par une victoire au Championnat de France Séniors Dames.
Toutes nos félicitations pour cette très belle performance.
Avec un score total de +11 sur 3 tours, Hélène a su restée combative pour progressivement remonter de la 23ème place à l’issue du 1er tour, à la 10ème place à la fin du 2ème tour et enfin à la 2ème place.

Rodrigo Lacerda Soares (Morfontaine) est devenu ce samedi au Luxembourg le premier Français à remporter le titre européen senior. Chez les Dames, Hélène Malvy (Val-Grand) est repartie avec l’argent autour du cou.

Il avait remporté le titre européen chez les mid-amateurs en 2020 sous les couleurs de la Suisse ; cette fois-ci c’est pour la France que Rodrigo Lacerda Soares a triomphé dans la version senior du championnat individuel continental ! Le joueur d’origine brésilienne, licencié à Morfontaine, est en effet sorti vainqueur d’un play-off à trois face aux Irlandais Joe Lyons et Declan O’Neill, ce samedi après-midi sur le parcours du Kikuoka Country Club, au Luxembourg.
Après avoir bouclé les trois tours de régulation en 213 (-3) grâce à des cartes de 68, 73 et 72, et rattrapé dans l’affaire cinq coups de retard sur le Suisse Andreas Bauer, Lacerda Soares a en effet rejoint les golfeurs insulaires à la première place au club-house, et a donc dû retourner sur le parcours. Après un échange de pars au premier trou de play-off, le Tricolore a décroché la timbale en rentrant 4 m pour birdie au deuxième trou de mort subite ! À 50 ans tout juste, il est devenu le premier Français à remporter ce championnat, créé en 1996.

Hélène Malvy se pare d’argent
Dans la compétition féminine, disputée simultanément et sur le même parcours, Hélène Malvy est passée tout près d’offrir à la France un doublé. La joueuse de Val-Grand a en effet terminé à la deuxième place après avoir rendu des cartes de 79, 74 et 74. Avec un total de 227 (+11), elle s’est inclinée de deux petits coups face à la Belge Annick Riff, tandis que l’Allemande Alexandra Kölker (+12) est montée sur la troisième marche du podium.

LACERDA SOARES (FRA) AND RIFF (BEL) WIN SENIOR TITLES IN LUXEMBOURG
The final round of the European Senior Men’s and Ladies’ Championships culminated with a dramatic finish at Kikuoka Country Club on Saturday.
A sunny day started with two players having clear advantages at the top of both leaderboards. Andreas Bauer (SUI) and Jannicke Nielsen Bakken (NOR) had five and four shot leads respectively with just 18 holes to play.
Both leaders struggled on the opening nine of the last day however, quickly bringing the chasing packs back into contention.
The men’s championship would have to be decided by a three-way playoff after Rodrigo Lacerda Soares (FRA), Joe Lyons (IRL) and Declan O’Neill (IRL) all finished on -3.
Playing the par-3 10th in front of the clubhouse, all three players made par on the first playoff hole. The second time around, Lacerda Soares holed a four-metre birdie putt to clinch the title in his first appearance in the event.
The European gold medal is the 50-year-old’s second, having won the European Mid-Amateur Men’s Championship in Switzerland four years ago. The win also marks the first time a French player has won the senior men’s title in the event’s 29-year history.
On matching scorecards, Joe Lyons took home the silver medal while Declan O’Neill was awarded the bronze.
In the ladies’ championship, Belgium’s Annick Riff came out on top. The 61-year-old, who also took home the prize for 60-and-overs, started the day in fifth position and six shots behind the leader.
A two-over-par 74 featuring three birdies, the tied lowest round of the day, left her on top of the leaderboard at the end of the day after all players ahead of her were unable to match the score. She becomes the first Belgian player to lift the senior ladies’ trophy.
France’s Hélène Malvy (+11) and Germany’s Alexandra Kölker (+12) completed the podium after starting the day in a tie for 10th position.
